New rules for aircraft maintenancePosted by admin
Part 145 sets out the standards for the issue and renewal of approvals for organisations to carry out maintenance of Australian aircraft and their associated products.
The Part will replace CAR 30 (Certificates of Approval). Part 145 will detail the privileges and obligations of Approved Maintenance Organisations (AMOs) including administrative provisions, contract maintenance, and manufacture of parts during the course of maintenance. The Part will also provide for an AMO to maintain aircraft away from its facility, maintenance training programs and the issue of Authorised Release Certificates.
Many of the changes proposed are designed to comply with ICAO Annex 6 standards and improve the international recognition of Australia's aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul industry. The Part 145 certificate, ratings and limitations have been designed to meet international standards, be ICAO compliant and be easily recognised overseas.
Relief is proposed for the 'one-person' organisation against the administrative requirements of larger organisations.
